Overview
Coventry University is a public research university in the city of Coventry, England. It was established as a university through the Further and Higher Education Act 1992, and was formerly known as Lanchester Polytechnic until 1987 and Coventry Polytechnic until it gained university status in 1992.
With over 30,000 students (as of 2012), Coventry University is the larger of the two universities in the city, the other being the University of Warwick. It has two campuses: one in the city centre of Coventry where a large majority of the university operates, and one in London. The campus in Coventry is currently undergoing a £160m redevelopment programme. The university comprises three faculties and one school, and manages a number of commercial subsidiaries that provide business services to local and national organisations.

Coventry University currently occupies a purpose-built 33-acre (130,000 m2) campus in Coventry City Centre adjacent to Coventry Cathedral and the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum. Coventry city centre location means that not only will students have easy access to all university facilities and accommodation, but are also within walking distance of public transport, shops, restaurants, sports facilities, theatres and cinemas.
Coventry is a city and metropolitan borough in the county of West Midlands in England. Historically part of Warwickshire, Coventry is the 10th-largest city in England and the 13th-largest UK city overall. Coventry is situated 95 miles (153 km) north-west of central London. The City of Coventry is proud of its reputation as a world leader in peace and reconciliation. There are plenty of restaurants, sport centres, cafés, the Belgrade Theatre, an ice-rink and a multi-screen cinema complex. For students who are keen to see the surrounding areas of the city, Warwick Castle, Stratford-Upon-Avon and Coombe Abbey are all within easy travelling distance.
Coventry was established in 1043 with the founding of a Benedictine Abbey by Leofric, Earl of Mercia and his wife, Lady Godiva. By the thirteenth century it had become a thriving centre of textile trades. Coventry had become the fourth largest English city by the fourteenth century and on several occasions became the 'second capital' of England with parliament moving here. In the twentieth century, Coventry had become a centre of the British motor industry. Coventry today continues to be at the heart of high tech industry and commerce.

London Campus
Coventry also offers a London campus.London Campus is part of the exclusive Devonshire Square Estate and is the ideal location for students to connect and network with major business and financial markets. The campus is just 5 minutes walk from Liverpool Street station, a key commuting hub in Central London.

Learning environment
The main campus comprises of over 20 main student buildings, including our 2 newest buildings; The Hub – a modern social space for the students, and the Engineering & Computing Building which is crammed with technology. These are all managed by the University's Estates Services, along with the accommodation blocks, student houses, and Technology Park, giving a total of over 130 buildings.
The Lanchester Library offers a range of modern study environments. With over 350,000 books, 2,000 print journals and 8,000 electronic journal titles and a range of multimedia resources, it provides a focal point for student learning and information access.
The £35 million 'Hub' is just one part of a £200 million redevelopment programme at the University's city centre campus in Coventry. This also includes the new £55 million home for the Faculty of Engineering and Computing opened by HRH Princess Royal in 2012. Facilities include a full size Harrier Jump Jet, Mercedes Petronas Wind Tunnel, flight simulators and one of the most powerful magnets in the UK. The University prides itself on its excellent provision for sport and recreation with a wide range of facilities and services. The Sports Centre offers a fitness suite, four-court hall - suitable for volleyball, basketball, netball, cricket and football, two-court hall – suitable for tabletennis and badminton and a dance studio - ideal for exercise classes.

Accommodation
Coventry University offers a wide range of accommodation with something to suit everyone's budget, and offer accommodation for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The University has an excellent choice depending on students' requirements - there are catered halls, self–catered halls and university houses in desirable areas of the city. All of our accommodation prices include free Wi-Fi. Most of accommodation is on or within walking distance of the campus and other areas of interest within the city.
- Singer Hall: It has 693 beds. The rooms are single self catered. The bathroom facilities are shared between 6 students and a wash basin is provided in each room. The kitchen facilities are also shared between 6 students and comes with a cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer ad ironing board.Within bedroom students will find a comfy bed (bedding is not included), a desk and chair, wardrobe, bookshelf and a wastepaper bin.
- Priory Hall: It has 510 beds. The rooms are single. This accommodation is catered - students receive 10 meals per week (Mon-Fri) in the new Foodcourt located in TheHub. Single plus catered rooms have been recently refurbished, ready for our new arrivals. The bathroom facilities are shared between 5 to 8 people and a wash basin is provided in each room. The kitchen on each floor has small pantry, microwave and fridge. No cooker is provided as it is a catered halls of residence.
- Liberty Point: Located close to campus, all rooms are self catered en-suite in cluster flats of six. Flatmates share a well appointed kitchen offering sky Freeview TV.
